Governments worldwide are proposing climate change policy and legislation to reduce the emission of greenhouse gasses and reduce the use of carbon-emitting fossil fuels. In addition, there is increasing pressure to reach time-bound NetZero goals from multi-national food companies as companies aim to reduce their impact on climate change. Kelly Maher is a Republican Political Expert at 9NEWS in Denver, Colorado. An almost two decade veteran of politics, public policy, and media, Kelly understands the importance of crafting thoughtful narratives around controversial issues. Kelly has worked on every level of state and federal candidate and issue campaigns. On the national stage, Kelly has appeared on Fox News, The Daily Show and CNN. Kelly Maher is a speaker, writer, and aspiring urban farmer. As mother of two young sons who attempts to help others recapture the magic of life through an appreciation of agriculture and food creation, Kelly works to bridge the gap.
On a bet with a girlfriend over one too many glasses of wine, Kelly Maher agreed to live off what she and her husband produced on their small-acre urban farm in suburban Denver, Colorado, for an entire year. After a year of adventure and misadventure, Kelly emerged a smaller version of herself with even greater respect and admiration for real farmers. Kelly will join us to tell us about what worked, what didn’t (so many things), and what we can all do better to tell the fantastic stories of agriculture in a society further removed from its food sources than ever before.
