CLA Legislative Affairs Committee Takes Position on Bills of Interest to Livestock Producers

Representative Rod Pelton, District 65 joined the members of the CLA Legislative Affairs Committee at its most recent virtual meeting held on April 9th. Rep. Pelton discussed the bills of interest to the members. Representative Pelton represents Cheyenne, Kit Carson, Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Sedgwick, and Yuma counties.

Bill Hammerich gave an update on Initiative #16 (PAUSE) and the next steps in the process for CLA.

The Committee voted to support the following bills:

SB21-131 Protect Personal Identifying Information Kept By State
Concerning measures to protect personal identifying information kept by state agencies.

HB21-1262 Money Support Agricultural Events Organization
Concerning monetary support for agricultural events in Colorado, and, in connection therewith, making an appropriation.

The Committee voted to oppose the following bill:

HB21-1266 Environmental Justice Disproportionate Impacted Community
Concerning efforts to redress the effects of environmental injustice on disproportionately impacted communities.

The Committee is monitoring the following bill:

SB21-135 Prohibit Certain Animals In Traveling Animal Act
Concerning a prohibition on the use of certain animals in a traveling animal act.
