Beef producers from across the state traveled to Five Rivers Cattle Feeding Kuner Feedyard in Kersey, Colo. Thursday for a half-day presentation, the first of two seminars, covering stockmanship, cattle handling and transportation safety. Attendees represented many parts of the beef supply chain including; cow/calf producers, cattle feeders, and cattle haulers.
The seminar kicked off with an engaging and informative classroom presentation by Libby Bigler, Colorado BQA Coordinator on the basics of cattle handling and livestock transportation standards and guidelines.
Attendees then joined Dean Fish, PhD, stockmanship clinician outside for hands-on demonstrations on livestock handling and loading techniques. Producers received training in best management practices to help improve their operation and learned firsthand the principles of Beef Quality Assurance.
A special thank you to Tanner Pickett, Kim Rounds and Bo Bigler and the entire team at Five Rivers Cattle Feeding – Kuner Feedyard for hosting this event.
