CLA’s Annual Meeting is one of the largest gatherings of livestock producers and trade show vendors in Colorado.
Wednesday afternoon will begin with a panel focused on the importance of telling livestock agriculture’s story with panelists Amanda Radke, BEEF Magazine, Jennifer Brown, The Colorado Sun, Mike Thoren, Five Rivers Cattle Feeding, Keith Belk, Colorado State University, and moderated by Sarah Beatty, M&C Communications. Later, attendees will hear from Chris Brown, Vice President of Policy and Research, Common Sense Institute on Colorado’s competitiveness, economic recovery and $2B in new taxes and fees. Join us in the evening for the welcome reception followed by Colorado’s Finest Celebration to catch up with old friends and make new ones!
Keynote speaker, Dr. Frank Mitloehner, Professor and Air Quality Extension Specialist, University of California, Davis, has done the math on the livestock industry’s contribution to climate change. He is a professor in the Department of Animal Science at the University of California, Davis, specializing in measurement and mitigation of airborne pollutants from livestock production, including greenhouse gases, VOCs, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide and particulate matter. Dr. Mitloehner joins CLA for a closer look at the claims against agriculture and what he says is the truth behind livestock production and climate change.
The past Presidents of CLA and the Colorado Cattle Feeder’s Association will be celebrated for their leadership at Thursday’s luncheon. CLA’s Top Choice Award recipients, Dr. Keith Roehr and Dr. Bernard Rollin, will be recognized for their contributions to Colorado’s livestock industry and CLA President Dwain Weinrich will give a State of the Association address.
